Starting Tomorrow : Friday Project #1 (Minimalist Photography)

In order to improve my photography skills, i thought of doing 365 days project. Which means, i will take one photo per day for 365 days. Unfortunately, because of some personal issues, i am certain i won’t be able to continue the project after a month or two without taking a break. So, I had decided to do 30 days project starting this month, but missed by window by 7 days. 😦 Hence, now coming up with a new idea. The project is going to be called Friday Project (#number). And this month i am going to practice on minimalist photography.

Did you know there is something called Minimalist Photography before today? I hadn’t and thus the curiosity. According to infinite articles on the subject, what i have understood is…
I. Meaning of Minimalist Photography : It is the art of less. It normally focuses on a few elements. Basically, clutter free image. The Goal is to convey a concept or an idea, or simply to provoke an emotional response or just to provide a unique visual experience.
II. Points to remember while shooting for Minimalist Images
1. Keeping it Simple
2. Learn to See
3. Using Negative Space in Composition
4. Creating a Strong Composition
5. Using Color Indulgently
6. Stick to the plain backgrounds
7. Respect the Rule of Thirds
8. Strong Leading Lines
9. Interesting Geometric Patterns or lines
10. Contrast
11. Textures
12. Light and Dark
13. Look for open space
14. Bright block of colors
15. Subjects that stand out against simplified backgrounds etc etc..

Do let me know your suggestions and views on them and whether was i successful in learning and practicing. Or join me on this project by sharing one of your post every Friday in the Comments box.
See you tomorrow !!!

Mother’s Day

mother's day
Mother’s Day is an annual holiday that recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well the positive contributions that they make to society. But today, it is mostly known as a time for gifts, cards and outpourings of love and appreciation :). In United States,Greece,India etc, it is celebrated on the second Sunday in May (i.e Today) and in some other countries like Spain,Hungry,Portugal etc celebrates on first Sunday in May.

Can you believe, Mother’s Day turns 100 this year. And in this long run, the true reason to come up with this holiday has faded.

The original intention of Mother’s Day was to have a day honoring the sacrifices women made for their families. In early 80’s Mother’s day in U.S was mostly marked by woman’s peace group. A common activity was the meeting of groups of mothers whose sons had fought and died on opposite sides of the American Civil War. In 1868 – Ann Jarvis created a committee to establish a “Mother’s Friendship Day” whose purpose was “to reunite families that had been divided during the Civil War”, and she wanted to expand it into an annual memorial for mothers, but she died in 1905 before the celebration became popular.

After her mother’s death and overwhelmed by all the support message – Anna Marie Jarvis with the help of a Philadelphia merchant called John Wanamaker established Mother’s Day. She campaigned to establish Mother’s Day as a U.S. national holiday, and later as an international holiday.

Personally, i think we should show our appreciation and love often to our mothers. Why wait for today or why do we need a reminder saying – OK, it is Mother’s day, go on gift her something so that she knows you remember her. Wishing them today will of-course mean a lot but if we talk to them now and then, make her feel that we think of them should be enough. I am sure, she will like it too!

By the way, if you liked the image i created, you can download it from here and use it as a wallpaper.

Hope you like it too, Mom. 🙂
Love You!!

Flower Posts on Every Monday

This summer, I have taken lots of photos (believe me, lots and lots) of flowers. Same ones, different ones.

On someone’s request to upload some bright and colorful photos, i am planning to start uploading flower photos from my flower collection on every Monday. I selected the day “Monday” because it’s the first day of the week and because we usually have Monday blues after having a very good and sometimes very lazy weekend. 🙂 And to remove this Monday blues, what is better than a beautiful flower picture?

Unfortunately, many of these flower’s name are unknown to me, so in-case you know it, please do let me know.

Thanks in advance and i hope you enjoy the collection.

It’s me again… with new update

As, i am living in a very small part of the Germany, there is nothing much to photograph, but i want to challenge myself and see, how much can i come up with new photo ideas, even in this “small part of the town“. I will be also uploading my trip photos which luckily i have lots. 😀

My Camera Details:

Just like Moleskine

Last week, i was browsing sketchbook, when i found there are thousands and thousands of sites directing to Moleskine sketchbook.

At first, i thought it is new kind of sketch. Then i came to know that it’s just a book. But looks like, it’s not just any ordinary book. It’s a small pocket size blank book with black textured oil cloth cover. It’s manufactured by an Italian company named Modo & Modo. Because of its hardbound, slim, portable features, it is one of the most popular and must have book among lots of artists.

Which gave me an idea to get one too, so i can draw when i am not at home. This tiny book will be great for spontaneous drawing. But unfortunately, Moleskine was way to pricy for me, hence i picked up a book just like moleskine but cheaper. It is also hardbound, slim and portable (11cm x 15cm). Perfect in my purse. Pretty soon, the drawings from this tiny book will be uploaded too.

Where I have never gone Before

After many years of drawing and painting, i was searching for something new to learn in the same field when i stumbled across the word Zentangle in a blog.

Initially, I thought it was doodle with different name. And knowing i am no good in doodling (It’s way too creative for me and sadly on my part, I am not that creative), I was not up for it. But After learning the difference between the two and more I saw and read about Zentangle, I was totally into Zentangling. There are many official Zentangle website, from where i learned few things or two. After reading all the instructions, I dived immediately with pen and paper.

I have got myself new book (16cm x 20cm) (200 pages) which is exclusively for Zentangle and doodle. Let’s see how much of zentangling and doodling I can do. 🙂

I hope you will join in this journey of mine into “Zentangle and Doodle World”.
