Monday Flower Post [M.F.P]: Curcuma

curcuma

Last week, when i was passing by a florist, I saw this flower called Curcuma. Curcuma is also an another name for turmeric or haldi (in hindi). I took a photo as it is a beautiful flower. Later on, i read through Wikipedia that this flower is actually from a plant family that contains species as turmeric and Siam Tulip. The name comes from Arabic kurkum meaning “turmeric”.
I never imagined that turmeric plant could have a flower (duh!!) …

Monday Flower Post [M.F.P]: Iris

Iris

This plant has around 260–300 species. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among many of it’s species. It is a popular garden flower. I can see them all around my place now a days with so many different and beautiful combination of colors. I guess, coming Mondays will be all about Iris then… 😉
